New Orleans Real Estate
The city of New Orleans just rolled out its soft second mortgage program for first time homebuyers. They’re giving over $50 million in subsidies (up to $65,000 per house) in an attempt to speed up the redevelopment of some of the city’s most neglected neighborhoods.
That’s a pretty incredible deal.

Self-portraits are obnoxious. I wish I were capable enough to stage a shot and have the camera timer flash away. That way people might wonder who took the photo. There’s no doubt who is responsible for this one.

Homemade Pecan Pie
In my granny’s kitchen there’s a little plaque on the wall that reads: Never trust a skinny cook. I finally understood that this week - I mean, REALLY understood it - after firing up the oven in an attempt to make homemade pecan pies. I had a hard time pouring that goopy cup of Karo syrup into the mix but it was well worth it in the end.
